SAP HANA for Enterprise – Simple Applications and S/4 HANA

Enterprise Architects are always looking at reducing complexity in an organization. This can happen through implementing or reducing business processes and technology. Episode 4 in the ASUG webinar series, presented by SAP, dealt with the topic of how S/4 HANA can help reduce complexity (Learn from SAP S/4 HANA training). This webinar shows where S/4 HANA fits into the bigger ERP picture and the impact on your computing infrastructure. At the start of the webinar, Grigoleit set the stage by reviewing the background on what SAP is trying to accomplish by moving to S/4 HANA. Enterprise Architects need to appreciate where the complexity lies in their organizations. I think that much of this thinking applies outside of your SAP systems too.

The presenter also reviewed the build up to S/4 HANA with a brief history of SAP HANA:
One point that was clarified for me was exactly how SAP S/4 HANA is able to get the data savings that we hear so much about. I have worked at a couple of different organizations that, over time, have had a challenge with an ever-expanding SAP data footprint. In the presentation slides, Grigoleit showed a logical progression from normal ERP scenarios to those based on SAP HANA (learn in detail concepts from SAP HANA training by experts) and finally on S/4 HANA. The data savings are huge! This impacts the operations of the system from the backups to disaster recover times. Having less data to deal with on a continuous basis is a big cost saver. With complexity comes cost.
The details on how you can go from a typical 580GB ERP database to less that 10GB was covered in the presentation. It is not magic, and the space savings are dramatic. So what’s the catch? You are only working with what you need on a  simplified data structure.   If you have experienced this type of savings be sure to comment so that others know it is real.S/4 HANA fro integration implementation. SAP has a few different scenarios that they see customers implementing S/4 HANA in. As an Enterprise Architect, you need to be aware that they have these scenarios so you can make the right recommendations on the overall architecture. Yes, these scenarios include hybrid implementations utilizing the cloud and on-premises technology.

What Makes SAP S/4 HANA To Win Over Organizations and Business Process

While SAP S/4 HANA is recognized for its ability to create refined user experiences, drive simplification, and assist in digitization, the application has met with a degree of uncertainty from some organizations. Findings from a HCL-commissioned insider Research survey of SAP end users (with a minimum of $1 billion in revenues) reveal that indecision persists among several companies, with 60% of respondents still not committed to an S/4 HANA road map (Professional SAP S/4 HANA training by Learn IT Training) within the next 12 months. Only 16% indicated their intention to embark on a S/4 HANA journey in the next 6 months. In companies with no intention to adopt SAP S/4 HANA, the primary road blocks are incremental deployment costs (46%) and resource constraints (41%). Other challenges include the lack of a compelling business case for SAP S/4 HANA (37%) migration, the fear of business disruption (31%), an ambiguous migration flowchart (29%), and an unclear product road map (28%).
S4 HANA is based around the core ECC, however there are major differences:
  • Simplification of the data has been done. Within certain processes into a single table by replacing the core tables this can be achieved.
  • Due to the ‘principle of one’, some traditional functionality is no longer available after the new functionality has been released.
  • With over 3000 CDS views currently available embedded reporting has been released. Within the S/4 HANA environment SAP BW and SAP BPC can be embedded. Within the new product S/4 HANA enables certain scenarios to be performed– not all however; it will not replace BW or BPC. You can have SAP BW training from us as well.
In building a business case for SAP S/4 HANA, companies specifically consider quantifying benefits of the product a key challenge (51%), while 47% find it difficult to completely understand the solution’s capabilities, and 42% believe it is a challenge to prove cost reduction through adoption. It is no surprise, then, that cost and resource constraints top the list of challenges to SAP S/4 HANA uptake.Interestingly however, when it comes to establishing a business case, only 25% of respondents claimed that a dearth of proof of product performance was a roadblock. This reinforces the likelihood that unlock the associated benefits. Many of the aforementioned challenges are related to customers not yet agreeing with SAP’s message of SAP S/4 HANA as a non-disruptive, cost-effective solution that could assist in an end-to-end digital roadmap.
The Way Forward – Response to Adoption Challenges
Highlighting the business case for SAP S/4 HANA to the business community will remove any obstacles that are delaying adoption of the new technology. A clear case that highlights the business value and illustrates the non-disreputable nature of the deployment will bridge the gap between business and IT to support the creation of a S/4 HANA roadmap. More than half the respondent companies contemplating the implementation of SAP S/4 HANA claimed their decision to deploy the product would be positively affected if there was surety that the transition would be non-disruptive to their businesses.Service providers must target the key decision-makers of such purchases. According to the insider Research survey, this would largely mean the CIO segment (45%) and the IT department (39%). The CFO group (19%) and line of business (11%) are also considered key decision-makers in several cases.Business case for migrating to SAP S/4 HANA creating a non disruptive migration path, and completing a comprehensive impact assessment to understand the risks and impact of the migration. We also offer assistance with integrating SAP S/4 HANA deployment with the organization’s digital transformation strategy and bundling the product into an as-a-service solution will also need to feature among service provider’s attempts to increase buy-in.
The approach goes beyond product implementation to monitor and evaluate the real benefits generated for the client.Learn IT Training provides SAP training courses and other technologies online training by providing material with an affordable minimal cost .Every class built here is for better understanding of students explaining SAP from ground up starting absolute basics. Comprehensive IT Optimization by Revitalizing SAP S/4HANA

Realizing Value – SAP S/4 HANA and its transformation capabilities
While the migration to S/4 HANA may present some of these benefits from day one, most benefits requires some transformation to be unlocked. (Learn how to migrate to S/4 HANA by SAP S/4 HANA training by Learn IT Training) The challenge is to avoid the traditional transformation projects that seems to run forever and turns your business upside down. The non-disruptive nature of S/4 HANA allows you to get going faster, thus improving your ROI, while investing in shorter, more agile projects.Agile Benefits Creation (ABC) approach to provide clients an outcomes based and non-disruptive option to create business benefits., This provides the ability to realize key drivers in small bursts based on the appetite for change and internal resource capacities. This is a three-tiered system for the adoption of SAP S/4 HANA, helping clients to actualize benefits and enforcing greater agility in moving to the SAP Business suite (driven by SAP HANA and SAP S/4 HANA).
As an outcome-based and transformation business enterprise, approach towards application optimization and thought leadership leads to the question: What if we changed the rules?Projects are traditionally funded based on promised and perceived value – often intangible and ambiguous in realization. Undoubtedly, these notions are cutting-edge and highly controversial - but we believe that ‘self-funding’ is important for organizations to continue transforming and innovating in the digital economy of today. For instance, if an organization spends $1 million on a project with an expected value of $5 million, once the organization realizes the $5 million, it can utilize a percentage of the cash-chest for financing another/the next project. The concept is bold and radical; however, it keeps an organization vibrant and equipped for growth. It also fosters a sense of accountability from both the partner and the organization, critical for the success of the initiative.
Continuing with innovation and organizational development
Transformation driven by technological innovation is fundamental to an organization’s continued success. However, it is also ‘disruptive’, ‘cost-intensive’ as well as perpetual. That said, progressive businesses must assimilate the long-term impacts of this process; an environment that encourages accountability through agile project cycles can help foster innovation; projects thus become less disruptive and more affordable while enabling the organizations to reap benefits early.Migrating to SAP HANA (Learn from SAP HANA training) and SAP S/4 HANA is a smart and streamlined mechanism towards adopting an agile approach since most changes happen behind the scenes. There are only minor changes for the average user. Some transactions will be faster and a variety of performance enhancement could be identified; these, on their own, may not seem very consequential, but an overall realignment of the systems per se, results in them becoming material. This transformation pathway, however, does not happen on its own. Organizations need smoothness end-to-end processes and take steps to create a framework for reaping these benefits. A ‘participate’ state-of-mind and an active project flowchart helps to ensure complete organizational involvement – and this is exactly where ‘agility’ assumes paramount importance. The opportunity to avoid spending time on processes that are high-volume and re-dedicating those hours to other process has a considerable impact on organizational productivity.
Move to SAP S/4 HANA:
If an organization’s research on SAP S/4 HANA and the arguments carried in these discussions are strong and convincing enough to prompt a switch to SAP S/4 HANA, the final question is when?
  • Adopting SAP HANA and SAP S/4 HANA should be considered under the following conditions:
  • The SAP ERP Central Component is insufficiently supporting business needs;
  •  Budgetary allocations allow for innovation-funding;
  • Technology services are in need of a refreshed and consolidated re-think;
  • Transformation programs must be introduced urgently;
  •  Licensing considerations must be addressed;
This is a new product and is SAP’s biggest innovation since SAP R/3. SAP S/4 HANA is fully built on the most advanced in-memory platform – SAP HANA– and is designed with the most modern user experience – SAP Fiori. (Build app of your own learning concepts from SAP FIORI training).
Organizations must remember: A simple shift to SAP Business Suite driven by SAP HANA or SAP S/4 HANA will not immediately unravel the full potential benefits. Instead, they must harbor a proactive approach in order to realize the value-added impacts of the technology.Imagine SAP HANA as a Porsche, upgraded from a regular sedan; your new Porsche has the same components as the sedan brakes, four wheels, a steering wheel, etc. and you can drive it as you drove the sedan. But you also want to take advantage of what makes the Porsche a better car its design, speed, smoother drive, and performance in short, its overall ‘experience.’If you don’t want to learn driving faster, tackling corners better, and braking faster, you might as well have kept your tried-and-tested sedan. And to truly enjoy that turbo-charged experience of a vastly improved vehicle – you need an experienced copilot or race driver to take you through the motions, helping you to grasp the magic of this sharp, new technology.Learn IT Training is the best resource of all SAP training courses. It excels in delivering best teaching methodologies up to date with best used industry practices and its requirements. It provides not only SAP courses, trains students on many other technologies.

SAP S/4 HANA Architectonic a Gateway of Value
The next generation business suite, SAP S/4 HANA, is geared to initiate landmark changes through its disruptive and game-changing technology that has taken companies from all industries by storm. Built with intent to simplify, SAP S/4 HANA promises to transform critical business processes in finance, marketing, procurement, supply chain, and practically every other line of business. By combining its digitized core capabilities with the on-premise and cloud SAP solutions deployed within each line of business, SAP S/4 HANA could very well transform businesses into more competitive entities capable of surviving in the 21st century digital economy. Announcement of S/4 Hana was actually a bold move from SAP, increased SAP market with huge employment options raised demand for SAP S/4 HANA training. SAP combines both a simplification of business processes and all underlying technology layers.
Considering the strong potential of SAP S/4 HANA, it is little wonder that the following results emerged from the HCL-commissioned insider RESEARCH survey of SAP end users (with a minimum of $1 billion in revenues): 88% of companies are familiar with SAP S/4 HANA and 34% have either already adopted the product or are in the process of doing so. Furthermore, exactly half the respondent companies are keen to know more about the product or determine the viability of its adoption. SAP S/4 HANA (SAP business suite 4 HANA) is SAP’s next generation enterprise management solution for business. It is fully built on the in memory platform, SAP HANA, and designed to run simple with a personalized user experience using SAP Fiori (learn from SAP FIORI training) and a less complex data model than their previous SAP ERP solutions. While interest levels in SAP S/4 HANA are clearly high, a large number of businesses in the large enterprise space are yet to commit to a roadmap to implement S/4 HANA. For this reason, SAP S/4 HANA is still on the road to realizing its full potential.
Driving home SAP’s perceived value among customers
Backed by a strong value proposition, SAP S/4 HANA has continued to gain momentum over 500 companies have invested in this solution in the first quarter of 2016 alone. Of all the benefits, respondents believe that simplification and process efficiency have been the primary drivers for SAP S/4 HANA adoption. Simplification, in particular, is a sought after benefit, considering that SAP S/4 HANA reduces reconciliation problems and creates a single source of the truth. Thru Sales Analytics and SMART Sales Fulfillment Cockpit, SAP S/4 HANA offers better visibility and control over Sales Order Fulfillment (Learn from SAP SD Training). While 48% cited simplification and process efficiency as key differentiating elements of SAP S/4 HANA, another 55% claimed that the product’s ability to drive the SAP user experience was a prime motivator towards adoption. Other benefits enumerated include the ability to integrate new SAP functionalities (52%) and the thrust for SAP S/4 HANA to drive a digital transformation strategy (36%). S/4 HANA offers simple finance and SAP simple logistics.
Increasingly, SAP S/4 HANA appears to be the new digital core for 21st century enterprises. This revolutionary suite can enable businesses to gain insights across functions and roles. It can also create a digital value network, across Internet of Things, workforce engagement, and more in real-time to enhance business outcomes.Over and above these value-adds, SAP S/4 HANA could help organizations boost cross-functional transparency, productivity, and agility. The product could also empower organizations to perform more efficient, real-time operational reporting and gain greater visibility into daily activities to facilitate quicker decisions.Incidentally, the key benefits of SAP S/4 HANA highlighted by respondents – enhanced user experiences, simplification, and the development of a progressive digital platform – are in line with SAP’s mission statement for the products’ core offerings.Over and above these value-adds, SAP S/4 HANA could help organizations boost cross-functional transparency, productivity, and agility. The product could also empower organizations to perform more efficient, real-time operational reporting and gain greater visibility into daily activities to facilitate quicker decision.
The following chart summarizes the top benefits of SAP S/4 HANA that customers cited:
Mapping capabilities – SAP S/4 HANA
Despite the positive implications of SAP S/4 HANA, there is still hesitation among some companies with regards to the SAP S/4 HANA deployment timeline. Of all the respondents (apart from those who deployed the product and those who are not willing to do so) 36% were uncertain when they could consider the SAP S/4 HANA migration and 35% indicated that deployment will not be considered within 12 months while a mere 16% committed to a six-month timeline. For those companies looking to adopt SAP S/4 HANA in the near-term, they are faced with three deployment options – on-premise, cloud and hybrid. While organizations that require the complete range of functionalities and flexible solution designs will do well to consider the on-premise edition, the cloud edition is for organizations that can work within the functionalities of a specific cloud option. The hybrid cloud option, on the other hand, is for organizations looking to adopt a different integration approach with deeper application programming interface layers. With this deployment option, organizations can enjoy enhanced interchangeability and SAP system components can interact better with each other and other solutions. While the SAP S/4 HANA decision might appear to belong to the IT department, it is in fact a business decision rooted in the benefits the solution has to offer the organization as a whole. In line with this insight, only 39% of respondents claim that the IT department is the key SAP S/4 HANA decision-maker. The rest of the respondents believe that the CIO segment (45%), the CFO group (19%), and line of business (11%) are decision-making authorities in the SAP S/4 HANA scenario.
From a service provider’s perspective, the overall aim would be to satisfy the top expectations of these decision-makers – help in drawing up a migration path, developing a non-disruptive migration approach, and building a business case. With these priorities behind them, SAP Partners like HCL are implementing outcomes-based transformation programs that are focused on creating hardcore benefits for organizations. HCL’s Agile Benefits Creation (ABC) approach offers organizations a non-disruptive approach to realize the benefits of SAP S/4 HANA that is aligned with their internal resources and business priorities. HCL’s outcome-based approach goes beyond product implementation to monitor and evaluate the real benefits realized by the project. The market agrees that SAP S/4 HANA is the future for the digital enterprise– ready to transform your business, today.Learn IT Training is the world’s biggest resource of learning platform online will teach you the industry used technologies and methodologies and make you future ready in your chosen module and chosen platform. SAP HANA Tutorials | SAP S4 HANA Use Cases for Industry

SAP HANA Use Cases
SAP S4HANA is incredibly versatile. It can add value to a wide range of business scenarios, and it can be deployed in myriad ways to meet your project expectations and technical requirements. SAP HANA can also complement existing landscapes and replace outdated solutions. With that versatility in mind, we’ll review four typical use cases for SAP HANA deployments today, (Learn from SAP S4 HANA Training) as well as some of the potential scenarios for the future. These use cases are:
Agile data marts
SAP business suite accelerator
Primary database for SAP Netweaver business warehouse
Custom application development
Agile data mart
One way to quickly get the most value from in-memory technology is to use SAP HANA as a standalone data mart for a specific use case. In this scenario, SAP HANA acts as a central hub, collecting source-system data from multiple sources via in-memory technology and then displaying focused reports and analytics via a reporting front end. The data can then be used in multiple ways, depending on the organization’s reporting requirements and formats. This arrangement has the advantage of providing a focused solution to an immediate business problem while minimizing disruption to the existing landscape. Such projects are usually completed quickly: The business problem is understood, and the required data and source systems are easily identified. Such installations offer instant value making previously difficult and time-consuming tasks fast and easy.
SAP business suite accelerator
SAP HANA is frequently used to accelerate transactions and reports inside the SAP business suite. As with the agile data mart scenario, SAP HANA is set up as a standalone system, side by side with the database under the SAP Business Suite applications. In this scenario, however, SAP HANA is used to “offload” some transactions or reports that typically take hours or days to run, (SAP HANA Training by Learn IT covers all basic implementations which industry uses) though it is not used as the primary database under the application. As explained previous field of topics, certain transactions or reports inside the SAP Business Suite can run slowly, primarily due to the slow I/O of the underlying disk-based database and the huge data requests required by these transactions or reports. To run its calculations and present a result, a typical budgeting or planning transaction in SAP must collect data from many different tables in the system. Reports can also be very data-intensive, requiring extensive data from many tables dispersed throughout the database. In both of these cases, the application must request the data from the database, load it into a buffer table in the SAP application server, run the algorithm or calculation, and then display the results to users. To overcome system latency that slows down these common reports, SAP has developed “HANA fied” versions of several existing reports. These reports consist of three preconfigured reporting dashboards and 23 reports from the following business areas:
·         Financial reporting
·         Sales reporting
·         Purchasing reporting
·         Shipping reporting
·         Master data reporting
These dashboards and reports leverage existing reporting capabilities from SAP ERP. However, they offload the physical processing of the reports to a dedicated SAP HANA system that sits beside the live SAP ERP system. All relevant tables for each dashboard or report are physically copied from the SAP ERP system onto the SAP HANA system, which is then used to generate the reports and display them to users in a variety of user interfaces. Let’s review the key elements of each bundle.
Accelerated sales & distribution reporting
The SAP HANA business content for Sales and Distribution (see SAP SD training overview) enables sales managers and sales representatives to check basic key figures for sales in real time. Whereas sales managers use sales analytics to access instant overview information regarding the various performance indicators for their sales teams, the sales representatives focus on detailed information relating to the results of their sales activities.
Accelerated financial reporting
The SAP HANA Financials content package provides the prerequisites for building reports that provide the following analysis data:
  • Real-time analysis of the subledger for Accounts Payable (FI-PA) and account receivable (FI-    AR). Learn account payables and receivables from SAP simple finance training by Learn IT        Training.
  • Flexible analysis of customer and vendor items based on the single line items from the back-    end ERP system.
  • Calculation and analysis of the days sales outstanding (DSO).
  • Note that currently only General Ledger Accounting (new) is supported.
Accelerated procurement reporting
The purchasing content package for SAP HANA enables procurement managers to analyze key procurement processes in real time. Procurement managers use spending key figures along different dimensions including Material Groups, Vendors, Plants, and Purchasing Organizations to gain instant insight into inefficiencies that may point to savings potentials or internal and external process improvements.
Accelerated master data reporting
Master data are essential for nearly all business transactions, irrespective of the business area. The master data in this package concentrate on master data objects that are available in SAP ERP, such as material, customer, and vendor.
Accelerated shipping reporting
The SAP HANA content for Shipping enables shipping and warehouse managers to check basic shipping and stock key figures in real time. Managers use shipping analytics to obtain instant information for planning and monitoring outbound delivery-related activities. In addition, the managers can get an up-to-date overview on materials stock at any time.
SAP HANA accelerates reports
Imagine a “long-running” SAP ABAP training report within a particular business function, one that’s been an ongoing problem for users. As a result of system latency, many reports could not provide real-time data analysis and therefore could not be used to make proactive business decisions. SAP HANA can reduce a report’s run time from several hours to minutes or even seconds, making the information much more current and valuable.
Primary database for SAP Netweaver business warehouse
In our third use  case  example, SAP BW IS POWERED BY SAP HANA (SAP BW training ). In this scenario, a company replaces the previously for their SAP BW system with SAP HANA. The IT team can perform a standard DB migration over to SAP HANA and then enable specific objects to be in-memory optimized as necessary depending on the company’s requirements.SAP BW is the first SAP application that was optimized to run with SAP HANA as its primary underlying database. With SAP HANA, SAP BW can leverage in-memory capabilities for improved performance, without the need for any sidecar accelerators or extensive modeling workarounds. The entire database physically sits under the SAP BW system, eliminating the need for in-memory aggregation. This arrangement simplifies the data modeling and query design, which in turn greatly enhances system performance while lowering IT ownership costs.Replacing an old database with SAP HANA generates speed and flexibility for two key reasons. First, keeping the entire database in memory eliminates the need to send large amounts of data between the application and DB servers, thereby reducing latency. In fact, running SAP BW on SAP HANA eliminates most of the problematic issues that slow down the system, from both a user and an administrator perspective.
Custom application for SAP HANA
As stated earlier, SAP HANA is a full-blown, do-just-about-anything-you-want application platform. It speaks pure SQL, (want to learn how implement queries learn  from SQL server training) and it includes all of the most common APIs, so you can literally write any type of application you want on top of it. There are a few rules and “guide rails” that are designed to keep things from going wrong. Overall, however, the sky truly is the limit when it comes to imagining what to build with SAP HANA. Although SAP HANA is valuable for a broad range of applications, it “shines” particularly well in a few unique situations. If you’re building an enterprise-scale application for a business scenario that has high data volumes, needs detailed/granular data analysis, needs to search or aggregate huge data volumes, requires complex algorithmic or statistical calculations, or suffers from latency between transaction recording and reporting, SAP HANA is a great choice.
Future use case scenarios
As SAP HANA matures and SAP updates its portfolio of solutions to take advantage of the extensive horsepower of SAP HANA, you can expect to see nearly every SAP product supported naively on SAP HANA as a primary database plus many more “native SAP HANA” applications.By now you must be having a good understanding of how typical use cases take advantage of SAP HANA. The next step is to ensure that you understand the best ways to deploy this new technology in your environment to drive maximum value.

Benefits of SAP S/4 HANA | Business Use Cases of SAP S/4 HANA

While one might be quick in identifying the “technical” differences and principles of SAP S/4 HANA, how do one tackle the question –> Does SAP S4 HANA training offer any tangible and immediate Business Benefits.
In this blog, I try to answer this question from perspective of business and users alike.
The coverage has been limited to:
S/4 HANA Business Benefits
S/4 HANA Business Benefits – SAP Simple Finance
S/4 HANA Business Benefits – SAP Simple Logistics
S/4 HANA Business Benefits – Simplified User Experience (Ux)
S/4 HANA Industry* Specific Business Benefits – Govt., Utilities, Chemical, Retail & CPG.
SAP S/4 HANA Business Benefits
With S/4 HANA Business-houses, get an opportunity to “Re imagine Business” – in terms of “Re imagined Business Model”, “Re imagined Business Processes” as well as “Re-imagined Business Decisions”.  Ability of “simple & fast” connect with people, devices and business networks will benefit business-houses in working towards a simplified and flexible Business Model. With IoT, Big Data Analytics, Hybrid scenarios (cloud and On-premise applications) and native integration and connectivity with various business-network (like Ariba, Hybridism so on SAP S/4 HANA  will open up the world-space as playground to do business.Ability to “process simple“ by very limited (and only if business requires) batch processing, job scheduling and monitoring , latency or delay in receiving important information is reduced, thus enabling business-houses to operate and processes work in Real-time and on Live-data.
The online, real-time availability of information and power of faster and smart processing, will enable business-houses to think and look forward to “what is happening NOW” as well as how can impact immediate future, thus leading way to “predictive analytics” and “what-if-simulations”  scenarios and way of doing business. The “simple and real-time processing” will lead to “re imagined business decisions”, the way decisions are taken today viz-a-viz how they can be improved in future. Business can expect to reduce efforts and time, as there would be little “Manual consolidation” of data. Most of the decisions when taken in “real-time”, “on-the-fly” and with help of “predictive analytics” and “what-if-simulations” will lead to better control and decision making. The integrated and simplified data-model will support “decisions based on “single-source of truth” and also make it possible to “drill-down to highest level of granularity and easy viewing and linkage between KPI and its underlying transaction data.
S/4 HANA Business Benefits – Simple Finance
For Simple Finance the benefits primarily focus around the CFO: faster close, reduced debtor days, streamlined approvals.Innovations support business in area of Cash Management, Integrated business planning & SAP Accounting. Some of the sFIN benefits are: Fast month end closing, Enhanced profitability analysis, improved operational analytics, Value-added FI-CO reconciliation, and Performance improvement, Reduction in data volume, enriched financial planning process, and Enhanced cash management. The SMART Lab’s will Design, execute and capture experiments in a closed loop process leveraging history lab data and knowledge base (Smart Lab). Business –houses can Predict technical properties of new formulations (E-Chemistry).  Another Area of benefit will be Supply Chain Management learn from SAP FSCM training. SAP S4 HANA will help ensure agile and responsive Order Fulfillment. It would support capturing the demand in real-time via sensors (e.g. VMI, 3D Printing), run “ad-hoc” S&OP simulations and automatically fulfill and deliver order according to safe and sustainable practices (incl. ANS, MADS, COA, etc., “no touch order to delivery”).

Your Way to SAP S/4 HANA | Transition to S/4 HANA New Implementation

SAP S/4 HANA training On-premise edition (1511 release) is out with hype. SAP clearly says ‘It is a new product’ and the path to S/4 HANA from ERP ECC is not an upgrade. Not sure whether existing SAP customers has any choice rather than switch to S/4 HANA at certain point in time, the moot question is When and How to move to S/4 HANA.
When: S/4 HANA is not fully released i.e. developments are ongoing and will continue for more years. SAP has a road map, but no completion date. So, should the transition be started when it is fully released? SAP’s marketing person says to start the journey as SAP is releasing its functionalities over time.
SAP transition paths
If it is migration (System conversion or Landscape transformation), then probably all old (and redundant) custom codes, existing order types also will be carried over, then will the innovations or simplicity really be achieved? Is new-implementation a better option to come out of legacy or changed business processes? Or a mixed approach (like System conversion for core ECC functionality and then new implementation for IBP learn from SAP IBP training is better? There is no straight answers to ‘When’ and ‘How’ questions. But the most important is to analyze the Simplification (or restriction), understand the impacted functionalities on conversion to S/4 HANA and then decide considering the complexity, custom developments, dependency with other SAP applications etc. Highlighted below some of the On-premise functionalities which will be different (and/or not available) in S/4 HANA and must be pre-checked for migration or transition before deciding the path for S/4 HANA journey.
Finance: Migration from classic G/L to new G/L (using ledger to update particular valuation) is mandatory. Secondary cost elements will now be G/L accounts and need to migrate to chart of accounts. Existing functionality of parallel valuation needs to be adapted due to merger of FI & CO tables into universal journal. Activation of material ledger is mandatory. Learn about account ledger from SAP simple finance training. Account based COPA is now the default option though costing based COPA is still available. Actual costing is optional. Some migrations are also needed if source system is already active with material ledger.
Business partner: Customer and vendor master data will be replaced by Business partner. Customer / vendor integration (CVI) is a Pre-requisite for transition to S/4HANA. Custom fields or code (if any) for auto creation of customer or vendor master data etc need to adapt to Business partner.
Material number extension: Material number can now be 40 characters from existing 18. It is a optional feature. Impact of this extension on custom coding, interfaces, other SAP applications need to be evaluated before switching on 40 characters.
Foreign trade:Functionality of foreign trade under SD (Sales & distribution see SAP SD trainin g overview for more details) has been deprecated with SAP’s GTS (Global trade service). There is an option to integrate GTS natively in S&4 HANA or it can be separate application / instance. Existing foreign trade processes need to be analyzed.
Change in SD data model: There are several changes in SD data model including pricing (which is the heart of existing applications).  SAP has provided some migration options to move data from existing tables to new tables, however it needs to be evaluated the impact of amendment / append of existing tables.
Credit management: SD credit management is replaced by Credit management under Financial Supply Chain Management (SAP FSCM).
SD revenuere cognition: Revenue recognition is not supported. SAP's Recommendation is to migrate to ‘Revenue accounting and reporting’. Not all functionalities of revenue recognition are available in release 1.1 of Revenue Accounting and Reporting
Rebate: SD Rebate Processing (excepting SAP CRM Trade Promotion Management (TPM) is replaced by Settlement Management. Existing rebate agreements must be closed by a final settlement before migration.
Billing: Contract billing is not supported. Existing billing output (through NAST) needs to be migrated to Adobe, Smart forms etc.
ATP & Scheduling: APO’s GATP & PPDS functionalities are expected to be bundled in future release of S/4 HANA for Availability check and production scheduling.  MRP live is pre-requisite for PPDS functionality in S/4 HANA.
S&OP: Sales and operational planning will be replaced by IBP (Integrated business planning). Some functionalities of APO are also being made available in IBP.
Product catalog: SAP is positioning Hybris for web / internet processes, Product catalog will not be in target architecture.
SRM: S/4 HANA will have SRM bundled within it. Only limited SRM functionalities are included in 1511 release.
Quality management: ITS services for results recording, quality notifications & certificates are not supported.
Project system: PRT (Production resources and tools), texts, claim, Easy cost planning (ECP), Work force planning, project reports , OpenPS, cProjects  will not be supported. Many transaction codes will not be present as a part of simplification. Existing CJ20N is being enhanced for navigation to different reports. Needs huge knowledge transfer to users.  Archiving needs to be done through central SARA transactions i.e. not by individual transaction like CN80 etc.
Warehouse management: Standard WM functionality is available though it is not in Target architecture. Existing warehousing (SAP WM) functionality will be replaced by EWM (Extended warehouse management). Migration for existing EWM (running separately) customers to natively integrated S/4 HANA also needs to be evaluated. QIE within EWM also will be made obsolete. It is not clear how quality functions of existing EWM will work within S/4 HANA.There are obvious advantages in unifying several applications within S/4 HANA, however the implementation of EWM in place WM , TM in place of LE-TRA are separate projects by itself. So, the warm up (Pre-check) for move to S/4 HANA will be a huge project spanning several years. SAP’s innovations may be in right direction, but the journey towards unified digital platform will not be that simple and that is probably the reason for changing the name for ‘Simple finance’ to ‘S/4 HANA Finance’ or ‘Simple logistics’ to ‘S/4 HANA Logistics’.
